The "Opera del Duomo" Museum is home to a huge collection of 750 sublime works of art created over the centuries to decorate both the interior and exterior of the Cathedral, the baptistery and the Bell Tower, all preserved in the Opera del Duomo and set in a huge, brand new breathtaking setting. An experience to thrill awaits you as you look upon the works of Michelangelo, Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Luca della Robbia, Andrea Verrocchio, Antonio Pollaiuolo, Andrea Pisano, Arnolfo di Cambio, Ghirlandaio and many others. Our tour begins in the great halls of a former theater, where you can also admire reproduction of the Facade of Santa Maria del Fiore life-size. We will go on then for several halls that host two of the most important masterpieces of the Museum: the sublime and moving Michelangelo's Pietà del Duomo and the excruciating Penitent Magdalene by Donatello. The tour continues on the first floor along a beautiful lighted Gallery and finally the incredible Hall of the Dome. The last step of the tour is the Gallery of the silver altar that houses the altar of St John and the cross, which contains a fragment of the cross of Christ. Those, who wish, can climb on the roof terrace for closely observe the magnificent Brunelleschi Dome, preserving the unforgettable memory of an emotional experience in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
The ticket will be issued by our guide who will also give you access to the other monuments in the great Museum of the cathedral complex, which includes the Cathedral, the crypt and the baptistery, the crypt of Santa Reparata and Giotto's Bell Tower, to enjoy amazing views of the city.
